Kanpur Dehat, Uttar Pradesh | June 2026: In a major crackdown on food adulteration, the Uttar Pradesh Food Safety Department carried out a special enforcement drive targeting spice manufacturing units across Kanpur Dehat district.
The operation was conducted as part of the state’s ongoing efforts to curb the production and sale of substandard and adulterated food products and to strengthen consumer safety.
Key Actions Taken During the Enforcement Drive
Sampling of Spice Products
Food safety officials collected a total of 19 statutory samples of various spice products during the inspection. The samples have been sent to accredited laboratories for detailed analysis to determine compliance with food safety and quality standards.
The laboratory findings will help authorities identify any violations related to adulteration, misbranding, or the use of non-permitted ingredients.
Seizure of Suspected Adulterated Spices
During the inspections, the department seized approximately 19 quintals of suspected substandard or adulterated spices from the targeted units.
The seized stock has been secured pending the outcome of laboratory testing and further regulatory action.
Strengthening Food Safety Measures
The enforcement drive highlights the Uttar Pradesh Food Safety Department’s commitment to ensuring the availability of safe and quality food products in the market.
Officials have reiterated that strict action will be taken against food business operators found violating provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, including those involved in the manufacture or sale of adulterated food items.
Consumers are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any concerns related to food quality or safety to the appropriate authorities.
The department is expected to initiate further action based on the laboratory reports once the analysis of the collected samples is completed.
