The FSSAI has suspended 13 labs for a period of six months in violation of the FSS (Recognition & Notification of Laboratories) Regulations, 2018. These labs were suspended for not uploading the test reports on INFoLNET 2.0, despite several reminders.
The FSSAI has issued an order, in this regard, stating that it was observed that despite repeated reminders, these laboratories did not upload any test reports on the INFoLNET 2.0 portal till date and thus have failed to comply with clause (h) of the sub-regulation (l) of Regulation No. 9 of Food Safety and Standards (Recognition and Notification of Laboratories) Regulations, 2018, which states that every FSSAI notified lab has to share the record of observations and upload the test report on the online platform of FSSAI.
“In view of the above, aforementioned laboratories are hereby suspended for a period of 6 months from the date of issue of the said order as per Sub-regulation 2 of Regulation No. 10 of FSS (Recognition & Notification of Laboratories) Regulations, 2018,” reads the order, while adding that the Food Authority may on being satisfied that the food laboratory whose activities have been suspended under sub regulation (2) has rectified its shortcomings, may revoke such suspension.
The order added that these labs were reminded several times over past one year about the fallout but it fell on deaf ears.
“Please refer to the communications from this office dated 14th July 2022 followed by reminder emails dated 29th August 2022, 10th September 2022, 20th October 2022 and 1st November 2022 on the subject cited above (non- uploading of test results on INFOLNET), wherein it was requested to upload the test reports of all the regulatory food samples tested in your laboratory on INFoLNET 2.0 portal. It was also mentioned in the said communications that failure to comply with the above obligations will compel FSSAI to initiate strict actions against your laboratory leading to suspension/de-notification of your laboratory,” reads the order.
