Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA), Lucknow, conducted an emergency inspection at a spice manufacturing unit located at Dasahari Mor, Hardoi Road, Kakori. The operation led to the destruction of more than 3,300 kilograms of expired and contaminated spices, reinforcing the state’s commitment to consumer health and food safety.
During the inspection, FSDA officials discovered a large quantity of expired finished spice products along with severely contaminated raw materials that posed a serious risk to public health. Acting swiftly, authorities ordered the immediate destruction of the entire stock on-site to prevent any possibility of the unsafe products reaching consumers.
Key Highlights of the Enforcement Action
- Total Quantity Destroyed: 3,339 kg (33.39 quintals) of expired finished spices and contaminated raw materials.
- Estimated Value: Approximately ₹13.67 lakh worth of products were destroyed.
- Immediate Disposal: The entire stock was disposed of during the raid due to the significant health hazards identified.
- Official Sampling Conducted: Six samples were collected for laboratory analysis, including:
- Whole Turmeric
- Turmeric Powder
- Whole Coriander
- Coriander Powder
- Chili Powder
- Whole Chili
The collected samples have been forwarded for detailed quality assessment and compliance testing under applicable food safety regulations.

The action reflects the Uttar Pradesh government’s continued efforts to curb food adulteration, prevent the sale of substandard food products, and ensure that consumers receive safe and hygienic food.
