Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh: In a significant food safety enforcement operation, the Uttar Pradesh Food Safety Department conducted inspections at food business operators (FBOs) located in the Sahibabad Industrial Area of Ghaziabad. The drive was aimed at ensuring compliance with food safety regulations and safeguarding consumer health.
During the operation, officials confiscated 2,218 kilograms of suspected substandard tea leaves, estimated to be worth around ₹6 lakh, along with 408 kilograms of dairy-based mix drinks valued at approximately ₹93,840.
The inspection team also seized several food items found to be expired or suspected to be of compromised quality. These included stocks of roasted peanuts, mocktail syrups, and 14 kilograms of goat cheese that were deemed unfit for distribution.
To verify product quality and regulatory compliance, the department collected 10 statutory samples from the inspected units. These samples have been sent for laboratory analysis, and further action will be determined based on the test results.
Authorities stated that strict legal proceedings have been initiated against the concerned entities for violations of food safety standards. The department reiterated its commitment to maintaining food quality, protecting consumer interests, and taking stringent action against non-compliant businesses.
The enforcement drive highlights the ongoing efforts of food safety authorities to strengthen regulatory oversight and ensure that consumers have access to safe and quality food products.
