PepsiCo India has inaugurated a new flavour manufacturing facility in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, with an investment of ₹1,266 crore. The state-of-the-art plant marks the company’s second flavour manufacturing facility in India and its ninth globally, reinforcing PepsiCo’s long-term commitment to expanding its manufacturing footprint in the country.
The facility was virtually inaugurated by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav in the presence of PepsiCo executives and senior state government officials.
New Facility to Produce Beverage Concentrates
Spread across 22 acres, the Ujjain plant will manufacture beverage concentrates used across PepsiCo India’s beverage portfolio.
The project forms part of PepsiCo’s broader ₹5,700 crore investment plan in India through 2030, aimed at expanding manufacturing capacity, strengthening supply chains, and supporting the company’s long-term growth strategy.
Around 500 Employment Opportunities Expected
The new manufacturing facility is expected to generate around 500 direct and indirect jobs. In addition to employment, the project is expected to benefit local businesses by supporting ancillary industries, logistics providers, and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) across Madhya Pradesh.
Welcoming the investment, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said the project reflects the growing confidence of leading global companies in Madhya Pradesh and will contribute to the state’s industrial development and economic growth.
PepsiCo Reaffirms ‘In India For India’ Commitment
Speaking on the occasion, Jagrut Kotecha, CEO of PepsiCo India & South Asia, described the new facility as another milestone in PepsiCo’s long-standing partnership with India.
He said the Ujjain plant demonstrates the company’s “In India, For India” approach by strengthening local manufacturing capabilities while supporting the growth of the food and beverage ecosystem. The facility is also expected to expand PepsiCo’s agricultural engagement with farmers in Madhya Pradesh.
Sustainability at the Core of the Facility
PepsiCo has incorporated several sustainability initiatives into the new manufacturing unit, including:
- Operation using renewable electricity
- Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) technology
- Advanced water-efficiency systems
- Water replenishment initiatives targeting 100% of the water used at the facility
These measures are intended to reduce the plant’s environmental impact while supporting responsible manufacturing practices.
Strengthening India’s Beverage Manufacturing Sector
The investment highlights India’s growing importance as a global manufacturing destination for the food and beverage industry. Increasing domestic demand, improving infrastructure, and supportive government policies continue to encourage multinational companies to expand their operations in the country.
The new Ujjain facility is expected to enhance PepsiCo India’s production capabilities while contributing to regional industrial development and supply chain resilience.
