The Telangana Food Safety Department has suspended the Food Business Operator (FBO) licences of two dairy processing units in Sangareddy district and seized 3,800 kg of cream worth approximately ₹9.22 lakh after inspections revealed multiple food safety, hygiene, and labelling violations.
The inspections were conducted on July 7 and 8 at M/s Saraswathi Dairy Products India Private Limited and Divya Enterprises as part of the department’s ongoing enforcement drive to ensure compliance with the Food Safety and Standards Act and related regulations.
Misbranded Dairy Products and Misleading Claims
During the inspections, officials found several dairy products that allegedly violated food labelling requirements.
According to the department, Keston Curd and Divya Curds were found to be misbranded, while Keston Paneer carried misleading claims on its label. The authorities stated that such violations can mislead consumers and are not in compliance with food labelling regulations.
Multiple Food Safety Violations Identified
Inspection teams also reported several operational and food safety deficiencies at both facilities.
The violations included:
- Use of expired laboratory reagents and chemicals for food testing
- Poor hygiene and sanitation practices
- Improper food storage conditions
- Inadequate record maintenance and product traceability
- Deficiencies in food safety management practices
- Pest infestation within the premises
- Structural deficiencies affecting hygienic operations
The department noted that the use of expired laboratory chemicals raises concerns regarding the reliability of internal quality control and testing procedures.
3800 Kg Cream Seized Worth ₹9.22 Lakh
During the enforcement action, officials seized 3,800 kg of cream with an estimated value of ₹9.22 lakh. The Food Safety Department also suspended the food business licences of both dairy units over the violations detected during the inspections.
Samples Sent for Laboratory Analysis
Officials collected samples of milk, curd, and paneer from both facilities for laboratory testing. The samples have been sent for analysis to determine whether the products comply with the standards prescribed under the Food Safety and Standards Act.
The department stated that further regulatory action will be taken based on the laboratory test reports.
