More than 30 students of the Morarji Desai Residential School, run by the Minority Department in Dandoti village, Chittapur taluk, were hospitalized after reportedly suffering from suspected food poisoning on Thursday night.
According to officials, the students began experiencing severe stomach pain shortly after consuming food at the residential school. They were initially taken to the Primary Health Centre in Dandoti for immediate medical attention and were later referred to the Government Hospital in Chittapur for further treatment.
Following the incident, officials from the Minority Department rushed to the school to oversee the situation and ensure that all affected students received prompt medical care. Necessary arrangements were made for their treatment, while authorities closely monitored their condition.
The Minority Department’s taluk officials stated that an investigation has been initiated to determine the exact cause of the suspected food poisoning. Officials are expected to inspect the school’s kitchen, food preparation process, and hygiene standards as part of the inquiry.
Chittapur Tahsildar Nagayya Hiremath said that the health condition of the affected students has improved and that they are currently receiving appropriate medical care.
The incident has once again raised concerns over food safety and hygiene in residential educational institutions. Authorities are expected to submit a detailed report after completing the investigation, and further action will be taken based on its findings.
