PepsiCo India is expanding Quaker’s product portfolio beyond traditional breakfast foods with the launch of two new snacks, Quaker Protein Ladooz and Quaker Protein Chikki Bites. The products combine oats with familiar Indian flavours, aiming to make protein and fibre more accessible in everyday snacking.
New Quaker Snacks Blend Nutrition with Traditional Flavours
The new range features two varieties designed around popular Indian snack formats.
- Quaker Protein Ladooz – Rose and dry fruit flavour
- Quaker Protein Chikki Bites – Ragi and chocolate flavour
According to the company, both products contain oats, 12% protein and high fibre. They are priced at ₹10, positioning them as an affordable option for consumers looking for convenient snacking choices. PepsiCo India also states that the products contain no artificial flavours or palm oil.
Study Highlights Protein and Fibre Consumption Gaps
The launch follows research conducted by PepsiCo India in collaboration with Euromonitor International and the Indian Institute of Millets Research (IIMR). The study, titled The State of Protein & Fibre in Urban India, examined consumer habits and the challenges people face in meeting their daily nutritional requirements.
The research highlighted several findings.
- 70% of respondents consume less than 41 grams of protein daily.
- 61% of respondents do not meet their recommended daily fibre intake.
- 60% of respondents identify high costs as a barrier to consuming sufficient protein.
- 89% of Gen Z, Millennial and Gen X respondents want protein to be available in more familiar, everyday food formats.
These findings indicate an opportunity for food manufacturers to develop products that combine nutritional benefits with affordability and familiar eating habits.
Quaker Targets Everyday Snacking Occasions
With the new launch, Quaker aims to extend its association with oats into India’s broader snacking market. Instead of introducing entirely unfamiliar food formats, the company is incorporating oats, protein and fibre into ladoo and chikki-inspired products that consumers already recognise.
The strategy reflects a wider shift in the packaged food industry towards convenient products that offer additional nutritional benefits while retaining familiar flavours.
PepsiCo India Shares Its Innovation Strategy
Saakshi Verma Menon, Chief Marketing Officer – Foods at PepsiCo India, said the company is working to expand its Better-for-You portfolio in response to changing consumer expectations. She highlighted the importance of making protein and fibre easier to incorporate into everyday diets through convenient and affordable products.
Sriram Iyer, Marketing Director – Quaker at PepsiCo India, also emphasised the brand’s intention to extend its oats-based nutrition offering into familiar Indian snack formats. He noted that the new products are designed to address the perceived trade-off between choosing nutritious foods and enjoying good taste.
What This Means for India’s Snacking Market
The launch of Quaker Protein Ladooz and Chikki Bites reflects growing interest in snacks positioned around protein, fibre and convenience. For food manufacturers, combining traditional Indian formats with nutritional ingredients may offer an opportunity to attract consumers seeking alternatives to conventional snacks.
However, the nutritional value of any product depends on its complete composition, serving size and overall dietary context. Consumers should review the nutrition information on the packaging to assess how the products fit into their daily diets.
As PepsiCo India expands Quaker beyond breakfast, the new range represents the company’s effort to bring its oats-based positioning into more everyday eating occasions.
