Kerala Agricultural University Recruitment 2026: Assistant Professor Posts in Food Technology & Food Science

Kerala Agricultural University (KAU) has invited applications for the selection of Assistant Professor (Contract) for the PG Diploma in Food Industry Management and Quality Control course at the Agri Business Incubator, Department of Agricultural Engineering, College of Agriculture, Vellanikkara, Thrissur, Kerala.

A total of 2 Assistant Professor positions are available in the disciplines of Food Technology and Food Science/Community Science. The appointments will be on a purely temporary contractual basis for a period of one year.

The notification was issued on 3 September 2026 by the Department of Agricultural Engineering, Kerala Agricultural University.

1. Assistant Professor – Food Technology

Vacancy: 1

Educational Qualification:

Candidates should have:

• A Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks or an equivalent grade in OGPA/point scale.
• The degree should be in Processing & Food Engineering, Food Process Engineering, Food Science and Technology, or an equivalent course from an Indian university or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
• NET conducted by UGC, ICAR, CSIR, or a similar accredited SLET/SET is required as on the last date of application.
• Candidates who have been awarded a Ph.D. degree are exempted from NET/SLET/SET.

Consolidated Remuneration: ₹44,100 per month.

2. Assistant Professor – Food Science/Community Science

Vacancy: 1

Educational Qualification

Candidates should have:

• A Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks or an equivalent grade in OGPA/point scale.
• The degree should be in Post-harvest Technology, Food Science and Nutrition, Community Science, or an equivalent course from an Indian university or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
• NET conducted by UGC, ICAR, CSIR, or a similar accredited SLET/SET is required as on the last date of application.
• Candidates with a Ph.D. degree are exempted from NET/SLET/SET.

Consolidated Remuneration: ₹44,100 per month.

Age Limit:

Candidates should not have crossed 50 years of age as on 30 August 2026. Relaxation in the upper age limit will be provided to eligible candidates as per the existing rules.

Contract & Other Conditions:

• The appointment is purely temporary and contractual for one year.
• Selected candidates will have no claim in the University other than receiving the consolidated remuneration attached to the post.
• Selected candidates are eligible for casual leave according to the rules applicable to contract staff at KAU.
• Candidates who are already employed must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) along with their application.
• If selected, candidates are required to join immediately.
• No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
• Selected candidates must execute an agreement on ₹200 stamp paper.
• Candidates can discontinue from the contract by providing one month’s prior notice.

Shortlisted candidates will be informed by reply email after initial screening.
