The Uttar Pradesh State Food Safety Department conducted a special enforcement drive in Rampur district on June 2, 2026. The operation targeted a tea trading establishment located at Bareilly Gate, leading to the seizure of a large quantity of packaged tea leaves and the sealing of repackaging equipment.
According to officials, the inspection revealed that the business was engaged in repackaging various branded tea leaves without possessing a valid food business license. During the raid, authorities seized approximately 17 quintals and 24 kilograms of tea leaves and sealed the packaging machinery being used at the premises.
As part of the enforcement action, food safety officials collected five legal samples of tea leaves for laboratory testing. The samples have been sent for detailed analysis to determine whether the products comply with prescribed food safety standards and regulations.
Officials stated that further legal proceedings will be initiated based on the laboratory test reports. If any violations of food safety laws or quality standards are detected, strict action will be taken against the concerned operators under applicable provisions of food safety regulations.
The operation highlights the continued efforts of food safety authorities to curb food adulteration, prevent unauthorized food processing activities, and ensure that consumers receive safe and quality food products. Such enforcement drives play a crucial role in maintaining transparency and accountability within the food supply chain.
The State Food Safety Department has urged food business operators to obtain the necessary licenses and comply with all regulatory requirements to avoid legal action and protect public health.
