In a major crackdown ahead of the Holi festival, the Food Safety Department in Rajasthan’s Salumbar district carried out strict enforcement actions to ensure public health and safety.
During the inspection drive, officials seized approximately 400 kg of expired and contaminated food items, including ghee, edible oil, tea leaves, and spices. The confiscated products were found to be unfit for human consumption and were immediately destroyed to prevent any potential health risks to consumers.
The special drive was conducted as part of heightened vigilance before the festive season, when the demand for food products increases significantly. Authorities inspected multiple shops and food establishments across the district to curb the sale of adulterated and substandard food items.
In addition to the seizures, samples from several shops have been collected and sent to laboratories for detailed analysis. Officials stated that strict action will be taken under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 against any food business operators found violating safety norms.
The department has reiterated its commitment to ensuring safe and hygienic food for the public, especially during festivals. Citizens have also been encouraged to report any suspicious food products to the authorities.
