The Uttar Pradesh Food Safety Department has intensified its crackdown on food adulteration with a major enforcement action in Sardhana, Meerut. During a recent inspection drive, officials raided a khoya manufacturing unit suspected of violating food safety and hygiene regulations.
According to officials, the raid was conducted as part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to ensure safe and quality food products for consumers. During the inspection, the food safety team found several materials and products allegedly being used in the preparation of sub-standard khoya.
As part of the operation, authorities seized 70 tins of refined oil and 8 sacks of skimmed milk powder from the manufacturing unit. Officials suspect that these ingredients may have been used in the production of adulterated dairy products intended for sale in local markets.
The enforcement team also collected 9 food samples from the premises and sent them to a laboratory for detailed analysis and quality testing. The reports will help determine whether the products comply with the standards set under the Food Safety and Standards Act.
In one of the biggest actions during the raid, officials destroyed approximately 800 kilograms of sub-standard khoya on the spot after finding it unfit for human consumption. Authorities stated that immediate disposal was necessary to prevent the unsafe product from entering the market and posing health risks to consumers.
Food safety officials reiterated that strict action will continue against individuals and businesses involved in food adulteration, unsafe manufacturing practices, and violations of food safety regulations. The department has been conducting regular inspections across the state to curb the production and distribution of low-quality food products, especially dairy items that are commonly adulterated.
Authorities also urged food business operators to maintain proper hygiene, follow approved manufacturing practices, and comply with all food safety norms. Consumers have been advised to stay alert while purchasing dairy products and report any suspicious or poor-quality food items to the concerned authorities.
The latest raid once again highlights the Uttar Pradesh Food Safety Department’s commitment to strengthening food safety enforcement and protecting public health across the state.
