The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has suspended the food licence of Dior Pharmaceuticals with immediate effect after an inspection uncovered major and critical food safety violations at the company’s Nutraceutical Manufacturing Unit.
The regulatory action was taken following the detection of multiple non-conformities that were found to be in violation of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. The Food Business Operator (FBO) has been directed to immediately stop all operations until the identified deficiencies are rectified and compliance is restored.
Inspection Revealed Serious Food Safety Lapses
According to FSSAI, the inspection found that the nutraceutical manufacturing facility was operating under severely deficient Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Hygiene Practices (GHP), and Food Safety Management Systems (FSMS).
Officials reported several major and critical deficiencies affecting overall regulatory compliance and food safety standards.
Major Non Conformities Identified
During the inspection, FSSAI observed several serious shortcomings, including:
- Deficiencies in manufacturing infrastructure and facility maintenance.
- Poor sanitation, housekeeping, and pest control measures.
- Improper storage and handling practices.
- Weak process controls and personnel hygiene.
- Inadequate water quality monitoring systems.
- Poor maintenance of mandatory records and documentation.
- Multiple other regulatory compliance failures.
The authority stated that these deficiencies demonstrated a significant failure in ensuring the safety, quality, and traceability of food products manufactured at the facility.
Public Health Concerns
FSSAI noted that the unit manufactures nutraceutical products, which fall under a high-risk category of foods intended for human consumption. Due to the nature and extent of the observed violations, the deficiencies were considered to pose a significant risk to public health.
The inspection findings established gross non-compliance with the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, prompting immediate regulatory action.
Licence Suspended With Immediate Effect
Based on the inspection findings, FSSAI has suspended the food licence of Dior Pharmaceuticals with immediate effect.
The Food Business Operator has been instructed to:
- Cease all manufacturing and business operations immediately.
- Rectify all identified deficiencies.
- Implement effective food safety and hygiene measures.
- Demonstrate full compliance with FSSAI requirements before operations can resume.
- Obtain clearance from the Competent Authority prior to restarting production.
