The Food Safety Department in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh has intensified its inspection drive to ensure that food sold during the festive season meets safety and hygiene standards. During the recent inspection, officials destroyed 70 kg of unsafe sweets on the spot, emphasizing the department’s zero-tolerance approach toward food adulteration and unsafe practices.
In addition to destroying the unsafe food items, samples of sweets and dairy products were collected for laboratory testing to verify their quality and safety. Food Business Operators (FBOs) were also sensitized about maintaining hygiene standards and adhering to the Food Safety and Standards (FSS) Act, highlighting the importance of clean preparation and storage practices.
The department has reiterated its commitment to ensuring that consumers receive safe, hygienic, and high-quality food, especially during festive periods when the demand for sweets and dairy products increases significantly.
This proactive step by the Food Safety Department reflects the government’s continued efforts to protect public health and promote food safety awareness among vendors and consumers alike.
