The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has mandated a recall of a specific batch of red chilli powder from Patanjali Foods Ltd. due to non-compliance with the Food Safety and Standards (Contaminants, Toxins and Residues) Regulations, 2011. The batch, identified as Batch No. AJD2400012, was found to contain pesticide residues exceeding permissible limits.
Patanjali Foods confirmed the recall in a regulatory filing and announced that the batch in question, amounting to 4 tonnes of 200-gram packs, did not meet the maximum pesticide residue standards set by FSSAI. The company emphasized its commitment to adhering to food safety regulations and maintaining consumer trust.
As a part of the recall process, Patanjali has instructed its distribution partners to notify consumers, urging them to return the product for a full refund. The company is also reviewing its agricultural produce suppliers and tightening quality control measures to ensure full compliance with FSSAI guidelines.
This recall underscores the importance of maintaining rigorous food safety standards, especially in the FMCG sector, to protect consumer health and uphold product integrity.
