In a major action against food adulteration, the Uttar Pradesh Food and Drug Administration (UPFDA) carried out a large-scale raid in Barabanki district. The operation targeted a dairy unit involved in the production of adulterated paneer (cottage cheese) and khoya (mawa).
During the surprise inspection, officials found a significant quantity of spurious dairy products, including adulterated milk, paneer, and khoya. The UPFDA team immediately destroyed the contaminated items on-site to prevent them from entering the market and posing health risks to consumers.
According to officials, the factory was operating under unhygienic conditions and using substandard ingredients to manufacture dairy products on a large scale. The premises have been sealed, and legal proceedings have been initiated against the factory owner and those responsible.
A total of 18 food samples have been collected and sent to the laboratory for detailed analysis. The results of these tests will determine further action, including prosecution under the Food Safety and Standards Act.
Authorities emphasized that such operations will continue across the state as part of a strict drive to curb food adulteration. The UPFDA has urged the public to remain alert and report any suspicious activities related to the production or sale of unsafe food products.
