In a major crackdown, Sambhal Police have busted a gang involved in manufacturing and selling fake desi ghee. The accused traders — Ashu Jain, Sudesh Jain, Praveen Jain, Arun Kumar, and Abid from Meerut and Baghpat — have been arrested for running the adulteration racket.
According to the police, the gang used dalda and refined oil mixed with artificial ghee essence to create counterfeit products. They would then pack the fake ghee in wrappers of popular brands like Amul, Madhusudan, and Mother Dairy before selling it in the market as authentic desi ghee.
The investigation revealed that the gang was producing around 1,500 liters of fake ghee every month. Shockingly, they have already pushed over 54,000 liters of adulterated ghee into the market, putting consumer health at serious risk.
Authorities are continuing their probe to identify the full supply chain and others involved in the distribution network. This case highlights the urgent need for stricter enforcement and consumer awareness to curb food adulteration, which poses a major threat to public health.
