In a major crackdown against food adulteration, the Food Safety Department in Uttar Pradesh conducted a large-scale raid in Hapur and seized nearly 15,000 kilograms of suspected adulterated honey valued at around Rs 22 lakh. The action was carried out as part of the department’s ongoing drive to curb the sale and distribution of unsafe food products in the state.
Officials said that multiple samples from the seized stock were collected and sent to laboratories for detailed quality and safety analysis. The final test reports will determine the exact nature of adulteration and will be used for further legal proceedings against those involved. Authorities have indicated that strict action will be taken if violations of food safety standards are confirmed.
Food safety experts have repeatedly warned that adulterated honey may contain harmful additives such as sugar syrup, artificial sweeteners, chemicals, or low-quality ingredients that can pose serious health risks to consumers. Regular consumption of such products may impact overall health and also mislead consumers who believe they are purchasing pure honey.
The Food Safety Department stated that inspections and enforcement drives across the state will continue in order to identify and eliminate adulterated food products from the market. Officials also appealed to consumers to remain cautious while purchasing food items and to buy only from trusted and certified brands. Citizens have also been encouraged to report any suspicious food products or illegal manufacturing activities to the concerned authorities.
