A sample of Nestlé “Low Fat Dairy Whitener” collected from the premises of M/s Bharat Hotels Ltd. (The Lalit), Connaught Place, New Delhi, has been declared “UNSAFE” and “SUB-STANDARD” in a Food Analyst’s laboratory report under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
According to the notice, the sample was collected from the hotel premises and subsequently sent for laboratory analysis. The Food Analyst’s report determined that the product did not comply with the applicable food safety requirements.
Notice Issued to Bharat Hotels
Following the laboratory findings, a notice was issued to M/s Bharat Hotels Ltd. (The Lalit) concerning the non-compliant Nestlé Low Fat Dairy Whitener.
A copy of the laboratory analysis report was also provided to the Food Business Operator (FBO) for reference and necessary action.
Opportunity to Appeal
The FBO was provided an opportunity to appeal against the Food Analyst’s report under the relevant provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, within the prescribed period.
This allows the concerned food business operator to pursue the applicable regulatory process regarding the laboratory findings.
Sale of Product Ordered to Be Prohibited
The notice further directed the FBO to immediately prohibit the sale of the identified unsafe food product.
The action highlights the role of food testing and regulatory enforcement in identifying products that may not meet prescribed food safety and quality requirements.
