The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has suspended the food licence of M/s Seven Seas Hospitality Pvt. Ltd. with immediate effect after an inspection found multiple serious food safety, hygiene and sanitation violations at the food premises.
The action requires the Food Business Operator (FBO) to cease all food business activities during the suspension period.
Serious Hygiene And Sanitation Violations Found
During the inspection, authorities observed poor hygiene and sanitation conditions in the food preparation areas. The premises reportedly had water stagnation, foul odour, filth and inadequate housekeeping.
These conditions raised concerns regarding the overall sanitary environment in which food was being handled and prepared.
Deteriorated Food Materials Found
The inspection also found several deteriorated food materials.
These included:
- Tomatoes and papaya showing fungal growth
- Jaggery and cashew nuts in deteriorated condition
- Rotten capsicums
- Blackened and degraded cooking oil
The presence of deteriorated food materials indicates significant deficiencies in food storage and handling practices.
Improper Food Storage
Serious deficiencies were also observed in the storage of food products.
Inspectors found inadequate segregation between meat and vegetarian foods, along with improper meat storage practices. Condensation was also reportedly dripping onto food items inside cold storage units, creating an additional food safety concern.
Infrastructure And Pest Control Deficiencies
The inspection identified several infrastructure-related problems, including refrigeration leakage, excessive ice deposition, plaster flaking, inadequate cold storage, poor ventilation and insufficient lighting.
The premises also had evidence of cockroaches and house flies, indicating deficiencies in pest-control and sanitation measures.
Non Compliance In Records And Water Testing
Further non-compliance was observed in areas including sanitation, record maintenance and water testing.
According to the inspection details, approximately 74 kg/litres of non-compliant food articles were destroyed on-site.
The FBO received a compliance score of only 30%, resulting in its classification as “Non-compliance.”
FSSAI Licence Suspended
Following the serious deficiencies identified during the inspection, the FSSAI licence issued to M/s Seven Seas Hospitality Pvt. Ltd. was suspended with immediate effect.
The FBO has been directed to cease all food business activities during the suspension period.
The action underscores the importance of maintaining proper hygiene, sanitation, pest control, food storage, infrastructure, documentation and water-testing practices to ensure food safety and regulatory compliance.
