Amul’s story begins in 1942 in Anand, where farmers in Kaira District relied heavily on seasonal crops, leaving them with little income security and frequent hardship during off-seasons. Income from milk was unreliable, as the trade was controlled by middlemen who paid very low prices. As milk is highly perishable, farmers were forced to sell it at whatever price they were offered, often at a loss. Angered by unfair and manipulative trade practices, farmers approached Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel for a solution. He urged them to eliminate middlemen and form their own cooperative, giving them control over procurement, processing, and marketing.
Amul is hiring for multiple positions across India under Kaira District Co-operative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd..
