The Food Safety Department, Kargil (UT Ladakh) has issued a prohibition order banning the sale and distribution of Nature’s Pride “Lemon Squash” after laboratory tests found the product unsafe for consumption.
According to the official order, a food sample of Nature’s Pride Lemon Squash was collected from a retail store in Shakar Chiktan, Kargil. The sample was sent for analysis to the National Food Laboratory, JNPA, Navi Mumbai.
🔍 What the Lab Found
The laboratory report confirmed that the product contained Benzoic Acid (preservative) above the permitted limit, making it unsafe under the Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006. Excess consumption of Benzoic Acid can pose health risks to consumers.

⚠️ Official Action
Using powers under Section 36(3)(b) of the Food Safety & Standards Act, the Designated Officer (Food Safety), Kargil has prohibited the sale and distribution of the said batch with immediate effect.
The order will remain in force unless a referral laboratory gives a different opinion upon review.
