Global food and agribusiness giant Cargill has made a binding offer to acquire 100% of Mig-Plus, a leading family-owned Brazilian company specializing in animal nutrition. The acquisition aims to strengthen Cargill’s presence in Brazil’s livestock sector, particularly in the swine and ruminant segments.
Mig-Plus, founded in 1991 and headquartered in Casca, Rio Grande do Sul, produces premixes, feed concentrates, and complete feeds. With around 450 employees and two operational facilities, the company has built a reputation for its innovative, high-quality animal nutrition solutions.
The transaction, while agreed upon by both parties, is subject to approval by Brazil’s Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) and other standard closing conditions.
Tadeu Migliavacca, CEO of Mig-Plus, expressed optimism about the acquisition, highlighting the shared values and people-first approach of both organizations. “The care Cargill demonstrates for people gives us confidence. Caring for people has always been part of Mig’s legacy,” he said. Celso Mello, vice president of Cargill Animal Nutrition & Health in South America, emphasized the strategic importance of this acquisition. “Located in a key swine-producing region of Brazil, Mig-Plus is an ideal fit for Cargill,” he stated. “Together, we will bring even more robust, efficient, and tailored solutions to producers.”
Cargill views the move as a way to create synergies in logistics, production, and market knowledge, while also expanding its reach and offering greater value to customers and employees alike.
Once approved, the integration is expected to accelerate innovation and expand access to advanced animal nutrition products across Brazil.
