The National Dairy Development Board’s (NDDB) creation is rooted in the conviction that our nation’s socio-economic progress lies largely on the development of rural India.
The Dairy Board was created to promote, finance and support producer-owned and controlled organisations. NDDB’s programmes and activities seek to strengthen farmer owned institutions and support national policies that are favourable to the growth of such institutions. Fundamental to NDDB’s efforts are cooperative strategies and principles.
NDDB’s efforts transformed India’s rural economy by making dairying a viable and profitable economic activity for millions of milk producers while addressing the country’s need for self-sufficiency in milk production.
NDDB has been reaching out to dairy farmers by implementing other income generating innovative activities and offering them sustainable livelihood.

NDDB offers an excellent learning environment with considerable freedom for creative and innovative activities.We are looking for a young and energetic Scientist for Product and Process Development (PPD) Group.
Profile Summary
Development of dairy starter cultures, related dairy products and processes, and transfer oftechnology for commercial production.
Key Role and Responsibility
- Design and develop molecular methods for identification, and characterization of lactic acid bacteria
- Test suitability of lactic acid bacteria for dairy application using microbiology, biochemical and genetictools and analysis of the data generated
- Transfer of technology, conducting product trials, facilitating training, trouble shooting and continuousup gradation of technology
- Provide technical inputs on issues related to dairy products & technology for dissemination to internal &external agencies
- Interact with equipment supplier and vendors as well as with all the relevant internal & external stakeholders for product development and technology
- Any other task assigned by Group Head/Reporting Officer.
Qualification & Experience
Master’s Degree in Dairy Microbiology with minimum 2 – 4 years of work experience in use ofmolecular and microbiological tools and techniques for Lactic Acid Bacteria research;
or
Ph.D. in Dairy Microbiology preferably with work experience in use of molecular, microbiologicaland biochemical tools for Lactic Acid Bacteria research

Other Essential attributes and skills
Technical
- Experience in use of equipment such as PCR, and Real Time PCR and other techniques used for strainlevel molecular characterization of Lactic Acid Bacteria
- Experience with statistical tool required for designing and analysis of experiments
