The Delhi Food Safety Department has seized and destroyed approximately 7,000 kg of unhygienic and foul-smelling khoya during an inspection at Mori Gate Khoya Market on November 3, 2026, as part of an ongoing crackdown on food adulteration ahead of the festive season.
According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the latest action has taken the total quantity of khoya destroyed by the department to 10,660 kg.
35 Out of 44 Khoya Samples Fail Preliminary Tests
During the inspection, the department conducted preliminary testing using its Food Safety on Wheels mobile testing facility.
Out of 44 khoya samples tested, 35 failed the preliminary tests, raising concerns about the quality and safety of the products being sold in the market.
Additionally, two samples were collected and sent to a laboratory for detailed examination.
Preliminary testing also indicated the possible presence of milk powder, vanaspati and substances used for binding in the suspected material. Samples have been forwarded for further investigation to determine the nature and composition of these ingredients.
