In a shocking food safety violation, authorities sealed a food manufacturing unit in Pannapuri, Hapur near Meerut after uncovering the production of adulterated tomato sauce under highly unhygienic conditions.

During the raid, the food safety department discovered that the unit was using:

• Vegetable pulp instead of real tomatoes
• Chemical acids
• Banned synthetic colours
• Rotten and low-quality raw materials

Nearly 200 litres of adulterated sauce were seized from the premises.

The unsafe sauce was reportedly supplied to:

Food Commissioner Sunil Kumar confirmed that:

• Samples have been sent for laboratory testing
• The product appeared unsafe for consumption
• The entire stock has been seized and will be destroyed

He also stated that a detailed investigation is underway to identify others involved in the supply and distribution network.
