Mumbai, August 23, 2025 – A shocking case of milk adulteration has come to light in Dahisar, where racketeers were caught selling chemical-mixed white water in genuine milk brand packets, deceiving thousands of unsuspecting consumers.
According to officials, the accused had been running a well-organized operation, collecting used milk packets of popular brands, refilling them with a mixture of chemicals, detergent-like substances, and starch-based solutions, and resealing them to appear original. The adulterated liquid was then circulated in the local markets as genuine milk.
Authorities conducted a raid after receiving a tip-off, seizing several liters of spurious “milk” along with packaging machines, chemicals, and counterfeit packets. Samples have been sent to the laboratory for testing, where early reports confirm the presence of harmful chemicals that pose serious health risks.
“People believe they are buying trusted brand milk, but in reality, they are drinking toxic water that can damage the liver, kidneys, and digestive system,” an official said.
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and local police have launched an investigation to identify the full supply chain and nab more members of the racket. Strict action has been promised against the culprits under food safety and criminal laws.
Authorities have urged citizens to remain cautious, check milk packets carefully for signs of tampering, and report any suspicious quality immediately.
