FSSAI Inaugurated “MAULI” India’s first all-Woman clean street Food Hub

In a landmark initiative, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has inaugurated “Mauli”—India’s first all-women Clean Street Food Hub in Kandivali, Mumbai. The hub was formally inaugurated by Hon’ble Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal, marking a proud step forward in the #EatRightIndia movement.

Empowering Women through Street Food

What makes this hub unique is that it is operated entirely by women from Self-Help Groups (SHGs). Each member has undergone extensive training and certification in food safety, hygiene practices, and business management under the guidance of FSSAI.

This ensures that the women not only serve safe and hygienic street food but also acquire long-term skills for sustainable entrepreneurship. By providing dignified livelihoods and financial independence, Mauli is transforming lives at the grassroots level.

A Model for Safe and Hygienic Street Food

The Clean Street Food Hub initiative is part of FSSAI’s broader efforts to formalize India’s vibrant street food sector while ensuring food safety and quality for consumers. The Mauli hub is equipped with proper infrastructure, safety standards, and hygienic practices, making it a model that can be replicated across the country.

Driving the #EatRightIndia Movement

FSSAI’s #EatRightIndia campaign has consistently promoted safe, healthy, and sustainable food practices. The launch of Mauli adds a gender empowerment dimension to this mission by creating opportunities for women-led enterprises in India’s thriving street food culture.

Looking Ahead

With the successful inauguration of Mauli, FSSAI has set the stage for more women-led clean street food hubs across India. This initiative is not just about safe food—it is about inclusivity, empowerment, and building a healthier nation.
