The National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management, Kundli (NIFTEM-K), has entered into a strategic partnership with the Almond Board of California (ABC), USA – India Liaison Office, through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The collaboration aims to foster research, innovation, and value addition in almond utilization within India’s food processing sector.
The MoU was signed at the NIFTEM-K campus by Dr. Harinder Singh Oberoi, Director of NIFTEM-K, and Sudarshan Mazumdar, Director – India, South Korea & Japan, Almond Board of California.
Founded in 1950, the Almond Board of California is recognized globally for its leadership in almond production, sustainability, nutrition research, and food safety. Its expertise aligns with NIFTEM-K’s research-driven agenda to advance India’s food innovation ecosystem.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Oberoi said,
“This MoU opens new opportunities for innovation, knowledge exchange, and capacity building. It will help drive joint research initiatives, create value-added almond applications, and strengthen academic-industry partnerships in India’s growing food sector.”
The signing ceremony was attended by leading academicians and industry representatives, including Dr. Komal Chauhan, Dean, Research & Outreach; Dr. Vimal Pant, CEO, NTIBIF; Dr. Bhim Pratap Singh, HOD, AES; Dr. Vinkel Arora, Associate Dean, Research & Outreach; Mr. Saptarshi Lahiri, Manager, Chase Advisors; and Dr. Sari, Assistant Professor, CRU.
This collaboration is expected to bring cutting-edge technology and global expertise to India’s food processing landscape, helping unlock innovative almond-based products and applications while promoting knowledge-sharing between academia and industry.
