In a significant move to ensure food safety ahead of the festive season, the Food Safety Department in Mirzapur carried out surprise raids on multiple khoya (mawa) production units and milk product factories. These inspections were part of FSSAI’s ongoing drive to curb the manufacture and sale of adulterated food items during the festive period when demand for dairy products surges.
During the operation, officials discovered that several units were producing khoya using synthetic milk, milk powder, and other low-quality or unsafe ingredients. Nearly 50 kilograms of adulterated khoya and milk were seized and immediately destroyed on-site to prevent them from entering the market.
Authorities confirmed that samples have been collected and sent to the laboratory for detailed testing to determine the extent of contamination. Based on the lab results, further legal action will be initiated against those responsible.
The FSSAI reiterated its commitment to strict enforcement across Uttar Pradesh, emphasizing that such actions are essential to protect public health. The agency has also urged manufacturers and vendors to strictly adhere to food safety standards and warned that any negligence will invite severe penalties.
This drive forms part of FSSAI’s broader mission to ensure that people receive only safe, pure, and healthy food during the festive season and beyond.
