Milky Mist Dairy Food has commissioned a new dedicated manufacturing plant for Skyr and Greek Yoghurt at its integrated manufacturing facility in Perundurai, Erode, Tamil Nadu.
The company has invested approximately ₹40 crore in the new facility, which has a processing capacity of up to 150 tonnes per day. The plant is designed to support the growing demand for high-protein dairy products while providing additional capacity for innovation and category expansion.
Focus on High-Protein Dairy
The commissioning comes as consumer interest in protein-rich foods continues to grow in India. Skyr and Greek Yoghurt are increasingly being positioned as convenient dairy-based sources of protein for consumers seeking higher-protein nutrition.
Milky Mist said it was among the first companies in India to introduce ultrafiltration technology for the production of Skyr and Greek Yoghurt in 2022. The technology enables the manufacture of high-protein yoghurt products and has supported the company’s expansion in the value-added dairy segment.
According to the company, demand for high-protein yoghurt products has more than doubled in recent months, highlighting the growing opportunity in the category.
150-Tonne-Per-Day Processing Capacity
The new dedicated facility provides Milky Mist with substantial additional processing capacity. With the ability to process up to 150 tonnes per day, the plant is expected to help the company respond to rising demand while supporting the development and launch of new products.
The investment also strengthens Milky Mist’s integrated manufacturing capabilities at its Perundurai facility, enabling the company to scale production while continuing to focus on value-added dairy products.
Strengthening Its High-Protein Portfolio
Commenting on the commissioning, K Rathnam, Whole-time Director and Chief Executive Officer, Milky Mist Dairy Food, said the new manufacturing facility represents a strategic expansion of the company’s technological capabilities.
He said the additional capacity would allow Milky Mist to serve rising demand, accelerate innovation and expand the Skyr and Greek Yoghurt category. The company also expects the investment to strengthen its position in the high-protein dairy segment and provide a platform for sustained profitable growth.

India’s dairy market is gradually moving beyond conventional products such as milk, curd and paneer, with increasing interest in value-added and functional dairy products.
