The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued a Food Recall Order against M/s Sun Organic Industries Private Limited for its Wonderland Raisins after laboratory testing found the product to be unsafe for human consumption under the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
The recall follows food safety investigations in which regulatory samples of Wonderland Raisins failed to meet the prescribed standards under the Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Regulations, 2011.
Product Failed Laboratory Testing
According to the Food Recall Order, the regulatory sample was collected by the Central Food Safety Officer (CFSO), Northern Region Office, FSSAI.
The sample was examined by the National Food Laboratory (NFL), Ghaziabad and later confirmed by the Centre for Food Research & Analysis (CFRA), NIFTEM-Kundli, the designated FSSAI Referral Laboratory.
Both laboratories reported that the raisins contained pesticide residues exceeding the maximum prescribed limits, leading to the product being declared Unsafe under Section 3(1)(zz)(xii) of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
FSSAI Directs Immediate Product Recall
As the product was found unsafe and manufactured in violation of the Food Safety and Standards Act, the Competent Authority directed M/s Sun Organic Industries Private Limited to:
- Immediately recall the entire batch of Wonderland Raisins from the market.
- Submit recall information and periodic recall status reports to FSSAI.
- Maintain complete records of recovered products.
- Implement corrective and preventive measures to avoid similar incidents in the future.
- Comply with the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards (Food Recall Procedure) Regulations, 2017.
Advisory for Consumers
Consumers are advised not to consume Wonderland Raisins from the recalled batch and to stay updated through official FSSAI recall notifications. Food recalls play a critical role in protecting public health by removing unsafe products from the market and ensuring that food business operators remain compliant with food safety regulations.
The action highlights FSSAI’s continued focus on strict enforcement of food safety standards and the monitoring of pesticide residue levels in food products.
