The Rajasthan Food Safety Department has intensified its ongoing drive against unsafe and sub-standard food products across the state. During a routine food safety inspection conducted in Sirohi district, officials seized and destroyed a range of expired and low-quality consumable items, including chuskis, ice lollies, and flavoured fruit beverages.
According to officials, the action was part of a broader campaign aimed at ensuring public health and maintaining food safety standards, especially during the summer season when consumption of frozen treats and beverages significantly increases.
During the inspection, food safety officers reportedly found several products that were either expired, improperly stored, or not compliant with food safety norms. Authorities immediately confiscated the items and later destroyed them to prevent their circulation in the market.
Officials stated that regular inspections are being conducted across Rajasthan to monitor the quality of food and beverage products being sold to consumers. Vendors and shop owners have also been warned against stocking expired or sub-standard items, failing which strict legal action may be taken under the Food Safety and Standards Act.
The department urged consumers to remain vigilant while purchasing packaged drinks, ice products, and summer refreshments. Citizens are advised to always check manufacturing dates, expiry labels, packaging conditions, and product quality before consumption.
The latest action in Sirohi highlights the continued efforts of food safety authorities to curb the sale of unsafe food products and protect consumer health across the state.
