In a significant move to curb food adulteration, the Uttar Pradesh Food Safety and Drug Administration (UPFSDA) conducted an intensive enforcement drive in Kanpur, taking strict action against those involved in the sale and manufacture of adulterated food products.
Key Highlights of the Raid
- 13,972 litres of adulterated edible oil seized
- 1,350 kilograms of coloured kachri confiscated
- Raid conducted on a fake ghee manufacturing unit in Kalyanpur
- Goods worth ₹5.45 lakh seized
- All collected samples sent to the laboratory for detailed analysis
Officials confirmed that the seized products were suspected to be unsafe for consumption. Samples have been dispatched for laboratory testing, and strict legal action will follow based on the results.
Fake Ghee Unit Busted in Kalyanpur
During the operation, food safety teams raided an illegal unit operating in Kalyanpur, where counterfeit ghee was allegedly being manufactured and distributed. A substantial quantity of raw materials and finished products was recovered from the premises. The unit has been sealed, and further investigation is underway.
Strengthening Food Safety Enforcement
The crackdown reflects the continued efforts of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and state authorities to ensure safe and hygienic food for consumers. Such drives are part of a broader strategy to eliminate food adulteration and protect public health.
