Reliance Retail, India’s largest retailer, has announced ambitious growth plans, targeting a 20% CAGR over the next three years and investing Rs 40,000 crore (USD 4.7 billion) to create Asia’s largest integrated food parks powered by AI, automation, robotics, and sustainable technologies.
At the company’s AGM, Isha Ambani, Director of Reliance Industries, said the investment would not only strengthen Reliance’s leadership in retail but also secure long-term cost advantages.
Retail Growth Momentum
Reliance Retail crossed Rs 3.30 lakh crore in gross revenue in FY25 with 1.4 billion transactions, nearly matching India’s population. The company operates nearly 20,000 stores across the country and is expanding its digital footprint through JioMart, AJIO, and hyperlocal delivery services.
Currently, Reliance’s online channels contribute a high single-digit share of revenues but are expected to cross 20% within three years, according to Isha Ambani. With 349 million registered customers and a strong quick-commerce presence, Reliance is positioning itself as a leader in faster, reliable delivery.
FMCG Ambitions – Rs 1 Lakh Crore Target
Reliance Consumer Products Ltd (RCPL), the FMCG arm of Reliance, is emerging as one of the group’s strongest growth engines. Within just three years of operations, RCPL generated Rs 11,500 crore in revenue, making it one of India’s fastest-growing FMCG players.
Looking ahead, Reliance has set a near-term goal to achieve Rs 1 lakh crore in FMCG revenue within five years, with ambitions to become India’s largest FMCG company with a global presence.
RCPL has already built a diverse portfolio by acquiring brands such as TagZ Foods, Campa Cola, Ravalgaon, and launching its in-house brands like Independence, Enzo, and Alan’s. Notably, Campa Cola now holds a double-digit market share across several states, challenging the long-standing dominance of Coca-Cola and PepsiCo.
Expanding Global Footprint
Reliance FMCG products have already reached West Asia, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and West Africa, with plans to expand into 25 countries within the next year. “Our ambition is to build an Indian consumer brands powerhouse with global reach,” Isha Ambani said, emphasizing that Brand India will shine brighter when its consumer and technology brands expand worldwide.
Mukesh Ambani on Retail’s Future
RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani hailed Reliance Retail’s growth journey as among the most impactful globally. He highlighted its inclusive retail ecosystem, offering quality products at affordable prices, and said the company is now ready to script its “next chapter of super growth.”
With its massive investment in food parks, aggressive FMCG expansion, and digital-first retail strategy, Reliance Retail is positioning itself not just as a domestic leader but as a global consumer powerhouse in the years ahead.
