FSSAI Launches Nationwide “Holi Anti-Adulteration Drive” Ahead of Festive Season

FSSAI

As the festive season approaches, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has launched a nationwide “Holi Anti-Adulteration Drive” to ensure the safety and quality of food items widely consumed during Holi celebrations.

🎯 Focus on High-Demand Festive Foods

The special drive targets food products that witness a surge in demand during Holi, including:

  • Sweets and confectionery items
  • Milk and milk products like khoya, paneer, and ghee
  • Edible oils
  • Other festive essentials

Authorities are conducting intensive inspections, large-scale sampling, and hotspot surveillance across various States and Union Territories to prevent the sale of adulterated or substandard food.

🚚 Food Safety on Wheels Deployed

To strengthen on-ground enforcement, Food Safety on Wheels (FSW) vans have been deployed for on-the-spot testing. These mobile food testing laboratories enable quick screening of food samples directly from markets, sweet shops, and manufacturing units, ensuring immediate action where violations are detected.

⚖️ Strict Action Against Violators

FSSAI has made it clear that strict action will be taken against food business operators found violating food safety norms. Non-compliance may lead to penalties, suspension, or cancellation of licenses under the Food Safety and Standards Act.

🛡️ Protecting Consumers During Holi

The initiative reinforces FSSAI’s commitment to safeguarding public health and ensuring that citizens can celebrate Holi without concerns about food adulteration. Consumers are also encouraged to:

  • Purchase food items from licensed vendors
  • Check FSSAI license numbers
  • Report suspicious or adulterated food products to local authorities

With heightened vigilance and enforcement, the nationwide drive aims to send a strong message — No To Adulteration — and promote safe, hygienic, and high-quality food during the festive season.
