Cargill Animal Nutrition & Health has inaugurated a state-of-the-art dairy feed manufacturing plant at Wazirabad in Punjab, marking a significant expansion of its footprint in India’s dairy sector. Built with an investment of ₹300 crore, the facility has an annual production capacity of 4 lakh metric tonnes and is expected to generate over 1,000 direct and indirect jobs.
Spread across 15 acres, the Wazirabad unit is now Cargill’s largest dairy feed plant in South Asia and its second facility in Punjab after Bathinda. The plant will manufacture products under globally recognised brands such as Provimi and Purina, catering to dairy farmers, producers, and feed mills.
Strategically located in one of North India’s most productive dairy belts, the facility brings advanced, automated production technology closer to farming communities. The company stated that the plant will ensure consistent availability of safe, high-quality, and low-toxin feed complying with BIS guidelines, thereby improving milk yields, animal health, and farmer incomes.
The plant was inaugurated by Sanjeev Arora, Minister of Industries & Commerce, Punjab, along with Ravinder Balain, President, Cargill India & Senior Managing Director, Cargill Animal Nutrition & Health (India).
India, the world’s largest milk producer contributing over a quarter of global output, continues to see strong dairy demand growth. With dairy contributing around 5% to the national economy and supporting over eight crore farmers, investments like this align with the “Make in India” vision and aim to strengthen the country’s dairy value chain.
