“Paayas” symbolizes purity. The word literal meaning is milk or pudding which is considered pure, divine and auspicious in Indian culture. Paayas is a Milk producer organization formed by the milk producers of Rajasthan which thrives for quality. Rajasthan is the second largest milk producing state of India which contributes about 14.4% to the total milk production of the country. Due to water scarcity, agriculture is limited so dairying is the major livelihood in the state. Of the total milk produced, buffalo contributes 52.71% of the state’s total milk production. Indigenous cattle contributes 28.63% milk and cross breed cow contributes 6.44% of milk. Looking at the milk potential of the state and to provide an opportunity to milk producers of the milk shed so that they can get better price for their produce and good services for their milch animals, Paayas Milk Producer Organization was set up on 19th May in Year 2012 with the help support of NDDB Dairy Services (a wholly owned subsidiary of NDDB, Anand). Paayas is owned by approximately 90, 000 milk producers of the state covering 3424 villages located in 14 districts.
