The ICAR – Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (ICAR-CIFT) set up in 1957 is the only national center in the country where research in all disciplines relating to fishing and fish processing is undertaken. The institute started functioning at Cochin in 1957. Research centers function at Veraval (Gujarat), Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh) and Mumbai (Maharashtra).
The institute functions with the following mandate:
- Basic and strategic research in fishing and processing.
- Design and development of energy efficient fishing systems for responsible fishing and sustainable management
- Development of implements and machinery for fishing and fish processing.
- Human resource Development through training, education and extension.
The Director with whom all the administrative and financial powers of the institute are vested heads the institute. A Senior Administrative Officer and Asst. Administrative Officers assist him in matters relating to general administration. Assistant Finance and Accounts Officers are looking after the financial and accounting aspects and also the internal audit of the institute. A technical officer attends to the technical matters including those connected with research projects handled by the institute.

Terms & Conditions:
- Registration will begin at 9.00 a.m. and will close at 10.00 a.m.
- Candidates should be above 21 years and maximum of 45 years as on date of interview. Age relaxation of 3 years for OBC candidates and 5 years for SC/ST candidates is permissible.
- Candidate should possess 1st class or 60% marks or equivalent overall GPA
- Candidates are required to submit detailed bio-data (in the enclosed format) affixing a recent passport size photograph alongwith attested copies of all the Certificates in support of their claims regarding age, educational qualifications, experience, Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe/OBC etc. The original certificates shall be produced for verification before the interview. The candidate should at least hold a Provisional Certificate in r/o. Graduation/ Professional Courses. (website results/ result awaiting candidates will not be considered)
- The selected candidate will be recruited on contract basis under ICAR norms. The post is purely temporary.
- The candidate attending the interview should ensure that they fulfill all the eligibility conditions. No correspondence will be entertained from the candidates for selection/test/appointment.
- Candidates already employed should submit “No Objection Certificate” from the present employer while attending the interview.
- No TA/DA will pay to attend the interview. Canvassing in any form will render the candidate disqualified for the post.
- The decision of Director, CIFT will be final and binding in all aspects regarding the selection to the post.
