- Job Title: Quality Control Manager – Nutraceutical & Food Industry
- Location: Boisar/Tarapur
- Reports To: Head – Quality Assurance / Plant Head
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Quality Control professional with strong expertise in Nutraceutical products testing, nutritional profiling, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will ensure all raw materials, in-process samples, and finished goods meet internal quality standards, statutory requirements, and international regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Testing & Analysis
- Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of nutraceutical and food products.
- Conduct nutritional profile testing including macronutrients, micronutrients, vitamins, and minerals.
- Test functional ingredients such as probiotics, botanical extracts, amino acids, and dietary fibers.
- Ensure accurate determination of active ingredient content as per product specifications.
- Analyze physical, chemical, and microbiological parameters of raw materials and finished products.
- Validate methods and equipment calibration for analytical accuracy.
2. Compliance & Documentation
- Maintain QC documentation as per FSSAI, GMP, HACCP, ISO 22000, and Codex Alimentarius guidelines.
- Review and approve Certificates of Analysis (COA) from suppliers and testing labs.
- Prepare batch-wise QC reports and retain samples for traceability.
- Ensure compliance with label claims and regulatory nutritional requirements.
3. Quality System Management
- Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for product testing and release.
- Monitor in-process quality checks to ensure adherence to standards.
- Lead investigations on non-conforming products and recommend corrective & preventive actions.
- Coordinate with R&D for new product development testing.
4. Team & Lab Management
- Supervise QC analysts and technicians, ensuring adherence to protocols.
- Train team members on nutritional analysis techniques and instrument handling.
- Oversee operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment such as HPLC, GC, UV-Vis Spectrophotometer, ICP-MS, FTIR, and Microbiological Testing Systems.
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of nutraceutical product composition and testing methodologies.
- Expertise in nutritional profiling techniques for vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and fatty acids.
- Hands-on experience with analytical instruments and method validation.
- Familiarity with international quality standards (US FDA, EU, Codex).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
Qualification & Experience:
- M.Sc. / M.Tech. in Food Technology, Nutraceuticals, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or related field.
- 5–10 years of QC experience in the Nutraceutical / Food / Dietary Supplements industry.
- Experience in nutritional profile testing is mandatory.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- % of batches released without deviation.
- Turnaround time for test reports.
- Compliance with regulatory audit requirements.
- Accuracy and reliability of nutritional test results.
