Jaipur-based QSR coffee chain Nothing Before Coffee (NBC) has announced the successful closure of a $2.3 million pre-Series A funding round, led by Prath Ventures with participation from SYL Investments. This fresh capital injection marks a significant milestone for the brand as it prepares for an aggressive growth phase across India.
Previously, the company had raised $313,000 from Vibha Jain and others, setting the foundation for its early expansion.
Founded in 2017 by Ankesh Jain, Anand Jain, Akshay Kedia, and Shubham Bhandari, Nothing Before Coffee has positioned itself as an affordable and inclusive coffee brand, offering a wide menu of over 100 beverages including coffees, shakes, and signature specialty drinks. Among its most popular innovations is the ‘Shrappe’, a desi spin on the classic frappe, which reflects the brand’s India-centric approach to coffee culture.
The funds from the latest round will be strategically deployed to:
- Launch over 150 new outlets across India by FY26
- Enhance digital platforms and customer experience
- Optimize the supply chain
- Hire top talent
- Explore new store formats to cater to diverse markets
“With strong unit economics and consistent consumer love, we are now well-positioned to scale rapidly,” said Ankesh Jain, Co-founder of NBC. “The capital will help us deepen our presence, invest in technology and talent, and unlock the next phase of growth as we work towards becoming India’s most loved and accessible coffee chain.”
NBC’s success lies in its sharp focus on Tier-II and Tier-III cities, a largely underserved segment by premium coffee players. With over 2 million customers served since inception, the brand has cultivated a loyal base of young, aspirational consumers who value both affordability and experience.
The brand’s commitment to inclusivity, innovation, and local flavor continues to set it apart in a competitive landscape. In a significant step toward global recognition, NBC also ventured abroad last year with the launch of its first international outlet in Portugal.
As India’s café culture evolves beyond metros, NBC’s expansion strategy reflects a strong alignment with the growing demand for high-quality, locally priced coffee experiences in emerging markets.
