The Department of Food Safety, Government of Puducherry has invited applications from eligible candidates for the post of Food Safety Officer on a contractual basis. 📌 Position Details:

- Monthly Salary: ₹25,000/-
- Contract Duration: 11 Months (extendable based on departmental requirements)
🎓 Educational Qualification:
Candidates must possess any one of the following qualifications from a recognized university:
- Degree in Food Technology, Dairy Technology Biotechnology, Oil Technology, Agricultural Science, Veterinary Science, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Master’s Degree in Chemistry, Degree in Medicine or Any other equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government
Note: Selected candidates must successfully complete the training prescribed by the Food Safety Authority at an approved institution.
🎯 Age Limit:
- Maximum Age: 30 Years
- Age will be calculated as on 19 June 2025
- Age relaxation for reserved categories will be provided as per Government of India norms.
🏠 Nativity Requirement:
Only candidates who are natives of the Union Territory of Puducherry and have been residing continuously in the UT for the last 5 years preceding the notification date are eligible to apply.
Selected candidates must produce a valid Nativity/Residence Certificate issued by the Revenue Department.
📝 Selection Process:
Selection will be based on the following weightage system:
Academic Performance – 90%
- Marks obtained in the qualifying Bachelor’s Degree
Additional Qualifications – 5%
- Post Graduation: 2%
- Doctorate (PhD): 3%
Experience/Time Since Graduation – 5%
- 1–2 years: 1%
- 3–4 years: 2%
- 5–6 years: 3%
- 7–8 years: 4%
- Above 8 years: 5%
Important: 2% will be deducted for every extra attempt/arrear in passing the Bachelor’s Degree.
💼 Job Responsibilities:
Selected Food Safety Officers may be required to:
- Conduct food safety inspections and investigations
- Perform field visits across all regions of Puducherry
- Work in shifts if required
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations
- Assist in public health and food quality monitoring activities
- Work at any location assigned by the Department of Food Safety
