In a major step toward international expansion, India’s third-largest ethnic snacks maker, Bikaji Foods International Ltd, has announced a 50:50 joint venture with Nepal’s Chaudhary Group (CG Foods Nepal Ltd). The collaboration aims to manufacture, trade, and market Bikaji’s popular products—bhujia, namkeen, papad, sweets, and snacks—across Nepal.
Both companies will jointly invest in multiple phases to establish a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Nepal, signaling long-term commitment to the growing Nepali FMCG sector, which is expanding at a rate of around 20% annually, according to the Investment Board Nepal.
Speaking about the partnership, Deepak Agarwal, Managing Director of Bikaji Foods, emphasized that the venture is a strategic milestone. “With CG Group’s local insights and our legacy in ethnic snacks, we aim to offer high-quality, affordable products to Nepali consumers while empowering local communities and supply chains.”
Varun Chaudhary, Director of CG Foods Nepal, added that the venture will go beyond product excellence by creating employment, strengthening local sourcing, and enhancing Nepal’s food ecosystem. “We want Indian flavors to become a part of Nepal’s everyday snacking culture,” he said.
Bikaji currently operates in 25 Indian states and exports to 25 countries, and this joint venture marks a significant step in expanding its footprint in South Asia.
