During the ongoing Khatu Shyam Ji Fair in Sikar, the Food Safety Department launched an intensified enforcement drive to safeguard the health of thousands of devotees visiting the religious event. Acting on high-level administrative directives, special inspection teams were deployed across the mela area to monitor food quality, hygiene practices, and storage conditions.
Officials carried out surprise inspections at food stalls, temporary kitchens, sweet shops, and storage facilities to prevent the sale of substandard, expired, or contaminated food items. The drive focused particularly on high-risk food products such as pulses, milk-based sweets, and prepared gravies.
Key Enforcement Highlights:
- 502 kg of pulses seized during inspections
- 175 kg of unsafe food destroyed on the spot
- Expired pulses, contaminated gravy, and stale sweets including Mawa and Rabri immediately disposed of
- 16 food samples collected and sent to the laboratory for detailed analysis
Authorities stated that strict monitoring is being maintained throughout the fair to ensure compliance with food safety standards. Vendors found violating norms may face legal action under the Food Safety and Standards Act.
The department has also appealed to food vendors to maintain proper hygiene, use fresh ingredients, and follow storage guidelines. Devotees have been encouraged to report any suspicious or unhygienic food practices to the concerned officials.
This proactive action reflects the administration’s commitment to ensuring a safe and healthy environment for all visitors attending the Khatu Shyam Ji Fair.
