The National Institute of Food Technology, Entrepreneurship and Management – Thanjavur (NIFTEM-T) is a pioneer Research and Educational Institution under the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India. Dr. V. Subrahmanyan. an eminent scientist and founder Director, Central Food Technological Research Institute, Mysore, after his retirement, started PPRC in 1967 as R & D laboratory in the Modern Rice Mill complex of Thanjavur Co-operative Marketing Federation (TCMF) at Tiruvarur, Tamil Nadu, India under the dedicated leadership and the able guidance of late. The mandate of the Institute at its inception was to seek solutions for preserving high moisture paddy because the paddy harvest season in Southern India coincided with the tail end of the South West monsoon. The Institute was later upgraded as a national laboratory with the name Paddy Processing Research Centre (PPRC) in 1972. At the time of up-gradation the mandates of the Institute were also changed and the scientists in the Institute focused their research in identifying technologies for post harvest procession and preservation of paddy. The Institute was moved to it current location at Thanjavur in 1984.

National Institute of Food Technology, Entrepreneurship & Management – Thanjavur (NIFTEM-T), an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India, invites eligible candidates for a walk-in-interview on 10th October 2025 at 9:30 AM. The recruitment is for Senior Research Fellow (SRF), Junior Research Fellow (JRF), and Young Professional-II (YP-II) positions on a purely contractual basis for various research projects.

- Nutrient resource recovery from Palmyra Haustorium (GAP-87)
- Valorization of food industry waste for cellulose derivatives (GAP-88)
- Development of high-speed food 3D printer (GAP-89)
- Microbial removal in spices using novel techniques (GAP-90)
- Enhancing grape drying and raisin quality (GAP-91)
- Essential Qualification: M.Tech/M.Sc./Ph.D. in Food Technology, Food Science, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, or related disciplines.
- Desirable: Research/publications, product development experience, and fieldwork readiness.
- Remuneration: ₹42,000 + HRA (as applicable).

- Production of coconut sap sugar crystals (GAP-92)
- Seaweed-based functional food development (GAP-94)

- Essential Qualification: M.Tech/M.Sc. in Food Process Engineering, Food Science, Food Nutrition, Food Technology, or related fields.
- Remuneration: ₹37,000 + HRA (as applicable).

- Formulation of carbonated functional energy beverages
- Process optimization of spun confectionery with natural sweeteners
- Essential Qualification: M.Tech/M.Sc. in Food Technology, Food Science, Nutrition, Processing & Food Engineering, or related fields.
- Desirable: Hands-on experience in product development.
- Remuneration: ₹35,000 (consolidated).

General Instructions
- Age Limit: 35 years for men and 40 years for women (as on interview date).
- Application Fee: ₹500/- (Exempted for SC/ST/PWD/Women candidates).
- Mode of Selection: In-person interview only at NIFTEM-T, Thanjavur.
- Documents Required: Filled application form, CV, original certificates (educational, caste, experience), publications, passport-size photographs, and one set of photocopies.
- Other Conditions:
- No TA/DA for attending the interview.
- Engagement is purely temporary, co-terminus with the project.
- Work is six days per week (except 2nd Saturday & Govt. holidays).
