In a major crackdown on food adulteration, the Jammu & Kashmir Food and Drug Administration (FDA) seized and destroyed 21 quintals of synthetic paneer in the Gangyal area. The raid was carried out as part of a wider campaign to safeguard public health and ensure that unsafe food products do not reach consumers.
Officials confirmed that the seized paneer was being prepared and stored under highly suspicious conditions, raising serious concerns about food safety. Acting swiftly, the FDA destroyed the entire stock to prevent it from entering the local market.
This action is part of the ongoing nationwide efforts led by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (#FSSAI) in collaboration with State FDAs, aimed at cracking down on the production and sale of adulterated and substandard food items. Authorities have also warned that strict penalties and legal action will follow against those involved in such practices.
Food adulteration remains a persistent challenge in India, especially during festive seasons when demand for dairy products like paneer spikes. The FDA emphasized that such illegal activities not only cheat consumers but also pose serious health risks.
With stricter checks and stronger enforcement, the administration has reiterated its commitment to ensuring that only safe, hygienic, and quality food reaches the public.
