The Food Safety Department in Udaipur, Rajasthan, conducted a strict enforcement action and seized approximately 3.5 quintals (350 kg) of ghee during a naka-bandi (checkpoint inspection). The operation was carried out as part of routine surveillance to prevent the distribution of unsafe or adulterated food products in the region.
During the inspection, officials stopped a vehicle transporting a large quantity of ghee. Upon investigation, authorities traced the supply chain back to the source location, where further inspection led to the seizure of ghee and mawa (khoya) suspected of violating food safety regulations.
The seized products have been sealed by the department, and samples are likely to be sent for laboratory testing to verify their quality and compliance with food safety standards. Officials confirmed that legal action is being taken as per the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act.
The Food Safety Department stated that such actions are part of their ongoing efforts to protect consumers and ensure safe food practices across Rajasthan. Authorities have also warned food business operators to strictly follow food safety regulations, as inspections and enforcement drives will continue across the state.
