In a decisive move to protect public health, the Rajasthan Food Safety Department conducted an extensive enforcement drive in Alwar, leading to the seizure and destruction of a massive quantity of unsafe and substandard food products.
During the inspection, officials seized more than 1,600 kg of adulterated and unsafe pickle, which was found unfit for human consumption. In addition, nearly 200 kg of ghee and jaggery were also confiscated after failing to meet safety and quality standards.
Immediate Destruction at the Site
To prevent any possibility of the products re-entering the market, authorities destroyed all confiscated items on-site. This swift action reflects the state’s seriousness in addressing food adulteration and eliminating unsafe food products from circulation.
Why the Crackdown Matters
Food adulteration remains a widespread issue, posing severe risks to consumer health. The drive conducted in Alwar is part of a broader initiative under FSSAI’s Safe Food Movement, aimed at ensuring:
- Stricter surveillance on food manufacturing and storage units
- Regular inspections to curb adulteration
- Increased consumer awareness regarding food safety
Ongoing Enforcement Across States
Rajasthan continues to intensify food safety operations, especially during seasons when adulteration risks are higher. FSSAI has urged consumers to stay alert, report suspicious food items, and purchase products only from licensed and compliant vendors.
Public Health Comes First
The destruction of unsafe pickle, adulterated ghee, and jaggery highlights the proactive role of the Food Safety Department in safeguarding the health of citizens and upholding national food safety standards.
