Position Overview:
The Assistant Manager – Food Regulatory Affairs will support the firm’s regulatory advisory practice. The role focuses on interpreting food regulations, advising clients on compliance, and contributing to policy discussions impacting the food industry.
The selected candidate will collaborate with industry stakeholders, government agencies, and clients to provide guidance on food regulations, compliance requirements, and regulatory policy developments.
Important Note:
This role focuses on regulatory advisory and policy interpretation. Candidates primarily from Quality Control, Testing Labs, Manufacturing, R&D, or Audit profiles may not be suitable.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Regulatory Expertise and Advisory
- Interpret and apply Food Safety regulations issued by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India.
- Track regulatory developments and assess implications for clients.
- Provide strategic advisory on compliance and regulatory positioning.
- Support regulatory interpretation on labeling, claims, product approvals, licensing, and submissions.
2. Policy Advocacy and Government Engagement
- Support policy advocacy initiatives related to trade practices and sectoral regulations.
- Prepare policy briefs, industry representations, and consultation submissions.
- Engage with institutions such as APEDA, DGFT, Ministry of Commerce, and other regulatory authorities.
- Track policy consultations, draft notifications, and regulatory updates impacting import/export norms.
- Coordinate with industry associations and chambers of commerce.
- Participate in stakeholder meetings and government consultations.

- Front-of-Pack Nutrition Labelling (FOPNL)
- Misleading Advertisements and Claims Regulations
- School and Canteen Guidelines
- Food Licensing and Registration Regulations
- GM Food Regulations
- Food Additives and Processing Aids Regulations
- Legal Metrology requirements
- Plastic Waste Management Rules
- Codex Alimentarius and global food regulatory frameworks
Skills and Competencies:
Technical Expertise
- Strong understanding of Indian food regulations and FSSAI frameworks
- Experience in food labeling, claims, and compliance interpretation
- Ability to assess regulatory risks and compliance gaps
Analytical & Research Skills
- Ability to track and interpret complex regulatory documents
- Strong research and problem-solving abilities
Communication & Stakeholder Management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to engage with industry leaders, regulators, and government stakeholders
