In a massive crackdown on food adulteration, the Haryana Food Safety Department carried out a surprise raid in Gurugram’s Sohna area, seizing 1,380 kilograms of adulterated paneer.
According to officials, the paneer was being prepared and stored in highly unhygienic conditions before being circulated in the market. The raid highlights growing concerns over the rise of unsafe and adulterated food products that pose serious health risks to consumers.
The Food Safety Department confirmed that samples have been collected for further testing. Strict action will be taken against those responsible for the production and distribution of the spurious paneer.
Food adulteration has long been a pressing issue across India, often involving everyday items such as milk, ghee, spices, oil, and sweets. Consumption of adulterated dairy products in particular can lead to food poisoning, stomach infections, and long-term health complications.
This raid serves as a reminder of the ongoing fight against food adulteration and the need for stronger enforcement, consumer awareness, and stricter penalties for violators.
What Consumers Should Do:
- Always buy paneer and dairy products from trusted sources.
- Check for unusual texture, sour smell, or rubbery consistency.
- Look out for FSSAI certification marks when purchasing packaged products.
The Haryana government has assured that inspections will continue to protect public health and ensure that adulterated products do not reach people’s homes.
